Discover Celebrate Recovery

Center for Discipleship         Celebrate Recovery of Lapeer County         Newsletter, May 2015

What Is Celebrate Recovery
Celebrate Recovery is a 12-step, Christ centered recovery ministry for everyone struggling with hurts, habits or hang-ups, together we find hope and healing in the power of Jesus Christ! Progressing through the 12 biblically-based steps and Eight Recovery Principles, we discover our personal, loving and forgiving "Higher Power"..Jesus Christ, the one and only true "Higher Power". By focusing on God's healing power as we explore and address those broken places inside of us, we begin to grow spiritually and are freed from our addictive, compulsive and dysfunctional behaviors. This life-changing process brings about new-found peace, serenity, and joy, drawing us into ever-stronger personal relationships with God and others.

How Does Celebrate Recovery Work
The large group meeting, (male and female), begins with praise and worship... followed by teaching and a review of the 12 steps and Eight Recovery Principles. Many times we will have a guest speaker address the topic that night or give a testimonial... after the large group is adjourned we break into small groups and discuss the topic that evening and share our hurts, habits or hang-ups (it is not a requirement to share, only if you desire to do so). The small groups are gender specific.. men meet with men, ladies meet with ladies. It should be noted that what you say in the group, what you hear in the group, stays in the group, confidentially is an absolute requirement.

Status
A core group of Celebrate Recovery supporters, organizers, and participants from the Lapeer County area have been engaged in a rigorous 25 session step study series. It is now time to introduce large group meetings, the other component of the program. This is tentatively being called “The Connection,” which by design will rotate week-to-week among supporting church's.
Much planning and organization with many volunteers will be necessary to sustain Celebrate Recovery during its introduction to the community at large.
A pre-launch meeting has been scheduled for May 6 at 11:30 AM at the Center For Discipleship, corner of Bearanger Rd and Daily Rd.
All area church leaders are invited. Please RSVP as a lunch will be provided.

Things needed for Large Group Meetings, “The Connection”:
A group of host church's.
At least one coordinator from each church.
People to volunteer for guest services and to prepare and serve dinners.
Worship teams to lead in song and praise.
Break-out session table leaders and coaches (training provided).
Catalyst funding.
Intercessory prayer.
